Wellness Effects of EMF Radiation

https://junemaid87.werite.net/post/2023/03/29/Well-being-Effects-of-EMF-Radiation  RF-EMF causes damage to DNA, heat up of tissues, and disrupt the blood brain barrier. These effects are real and ARPANSA is actively engaged within the EHS communities, medical experts and researchers. ARPANSA will continue examine research regarding the health effects caused by EMF radiation.

RF-EMF damages DNA
The exposure to electromagnetic fields created by humans (EMFs) are associated with DNA damage and other negative health consequences. EMFs can disrupt the intracellular ionic levels, which are essential to ensure a cell's electrochemical balance. In turn, this can alter the balance of cell metabolism, resulting to DNA destruction. Furthermore, exposure to EMFs is also associated with the production of free radicals and reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Exposure to RF-EMF radiation has been linked with alterations in male germ cell development. This involves the transformation of germ cells into spermatozoa as well functioning maturation as spermatozoa travel through the epididymis. To study the sensitivity of RF-EMF exposure to male germ cell development A specially designed waveguide machine was constructed to expose mice that were not restrained to RF-EME at 2.2 W/kg.

In a recent study, researchers discovered that exposure to RF-EME caused oxidative DNA damage in spermatozoa. Sperm DNA fragmentation increased by 18% following one week of treatment and by 23% after 5 weeks. Furthermore, DNA damage in mitochondria was observed by measuring the level of a biomarker, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG).

Although RF-EMF radiation is not yet classified as a cancer-causing agent. However, several studies have found that exposure to RF-EMF radiation can damage DNA integrity in a variety of cell varieties. In one of these studies researchers were exposed Vero cells with an EMF that was 100Hz, for about 45 minutes. They assessed DNA damage for within 48 hours of exposure to determine whether the exposure affected the integrity of DNA.

RF-EMF causes tissue heating
Although the effects of RF-EMF are typically believed as thermal in nature, some studies have demonstrated that non-thermal effects may also be evident. These may be the reason for certain of the unsolved findings in the epidemiological study of EMF hypersensitivity. Therefore, it is important to look at the non-thermal aspects when conducting an extensive review.

The non-thermal effects of RF-EMF may occur at the cell membrane. This is an area of research that has been thoroughly examined. Particularly,  emf radiation  of cell membranes is being studied. Current understanding suggests that RF-EMF energy higher than 1 MHz is transmitted to the tissue through dielectric as well as Ionic dissipation. The theoretical studies have indicated that the energy transfer to tissues could be as high as 200 kV/m.

The electric properties of tissue are regulated by the composition and distribution of water molecules, ions and other molecules within the body. This determines how absorbent RF EMR is by different tissues. Tissues with higher conductivity tend to absorb more field and cause more of an impact. This is why the level of heat generated by tissue does not increase steadily as it moves from the exterior to, but occurs in hot spots. Bone and fatty tissue is less susceptible to heating by RF than other tissues because they are low in water content.

The extent of the field's penetration depends on the frequency and strength that the electromagnetic field has. Muscle tissue is more able to absorb field energy than other tissues, and transforms it into heat more efficiently. Typically the penetration depth of RF-EMF is measured as millimeters (mm).  emf radiation , the shallower the penetration.

RF-EMF causes blood-brain barrier disruption
Researchers have discovered that RF-EMF could disrupt the blood-brain barrier which can alter sleep patterns and neurotransmitter levels. Furthermore the impacts of EMF on brain activity are linked to neurodegenerative disorders. For instance, EMF from mobile phones can affect electroencephalogram activity and sleep patterns, as well as the activity of nitric oxide and xanthin oxide.

Researchers at the Vienna University have studied the effects of exposure to RF EMF in brain cells. They also studied what effects ELF EMFs on the brain system. Though the cellular mechanisms involved are not completely comprehended but there is a clear relationship between exposure to ELF EMF and myelin depletion. This relationship might account for the electro-hypersensitivity symptoms of electro-hypersensitivity. There are, however, proven methods for regenerating myelin in the brain.

Researchers have observed that exposure to 900 Mhz EMF caused a rise in the permeability of BBB and also increased the indicators of neuronal injury in rodents. They also observed increased exovasation of albumin into neurons. Furthermore, they discovered that after 30 minutes of exposure to 900 MHz 99mTcMIBI increased its permeation in the cortex. However, this effect did not happen with Evans blue-based injections.

However, RF-EMF is not able to provide a definitive mechanism to disrupt the BBB. Evidence suggests that non-thermal EMF exposure increases erythrocyte membrane permeability, which may influence the BBB and enhance the efflux of calcium-ion. Furthermore, the presence a 99mTcMIBI radiotracer inside the brain has also been linked to an increase in the permeability and permeability of the BBB.
